Media Releases for Drake Hotel/Motel and Westpac Helicopter Big Day Out
APPRECIATIVE: The Drake Progress Association presenting a cheque for $22,254.40 to Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter
And to show their appreciation they've been raising money to support the service.
The Drake Progress Association has presented a cheque for $22,254.40 to the service.
Every year the Association holds a 'Drake Day Out' at the Drake Hotel raising money through raffles, a Golden Rugby Minifest Tournament, auctions, barbecues, selling merchandise and other fun and games.
Members of the Drake Progress Association travelled from Drake to present the cheque which Chief Pilot, Lynton Beggs was on hand to accept.
According to the rescue service, the good people at Drake have been fantastic supporters of the helicopter service. They've raised $86,615.65 since the association began its fundraising efforts in 1997.
There was a special mention for Desley and Bob Kane for their tremendous dedication to the rescue helicopter service.
The event is now the rescue helicopter's biggest single 'third party' fundraiser.
Given the size of Drake, it's considered to be an enormous achievement.
